In this feature, Ambit wanted to reveal the references and working studies which go into each of Gareth Cadwallader’s intricate paintings. We would like to thank the artist for his generosity in giving our readers an insight into his process and painting practice.

Gareth Cadwallader (b. 1979, Swindon, UK) lives and works in London. He graduated from BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting at Slade School of Fine Art, London in 2004 and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2010. Recent exhibitions include: The Diamond Sea, curated by Kristian Day at the Saatchi Gallery, London (2017), A New Kitchen Sink, Josh Lilley Gallery, London (2017), Mingled Spaces, Lychee One, London (2017) and Exeter Contemporary Open, Exeter (2017). Cadwallader will have a solo show at Josh Lilley Gallery, London in September 2018.
